WRESA contracts with Mountain Professionals to run our online Drivers Ed courses, and many school systems contract Mountain Professionals to handle the Driving Portion of Drivers Ed. Here is a statement from Mountain Professionals addressing the current state of the Drivers Education Program:
Mountain Professionals would like to update you regarding school closures, and the affect it is having on drivers education training at this time.
Our company must follow all guidelines provided by the Governor’s office, and take necessary precautions for our instructors and students. At this time we have suspended all behind the wheel training and any seated bookwork classes. Students currently enrolled in an online class will be able to finish the class. However, WRESA will not begin any new classes until these restrictions are lifted.
We recognize how frustrating this is for students and parents, and will be ready with the necessary personnel and resources to begin driving as soon as the restrictions are lifted.
Please keep in mind that with schools and DMV offices closed, students are not able to get the DMV eye exam or the needed paperwork (the Driver Eligibility Certificate) required for their permit.
When we have updates or changes in these procedures, we will post the information on our website.
Thank you your patience and understanding. Mountain Professionals will follow all state guidelines to protect our students, instructors, and North Carolinians during this unprecedented, unpredictable time.
WRESA and Mountain Professionals will update our websites with any changes to these procedures. Thank you for understanding and stay safe.
Students must be at least 14 1/2 on the first day of class. Fee is $60, payable with PayPal/Credit Card at time of registration. Please read all information below before signing up.
*NOTE: $60.00 Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable; please be sure you can complete the requirements during the times for each session.
For driving or Restricted Instruction Permit questions, please contact Mountain Professionals at 828-385-4477.

If you reside in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Macon, McDowell, Swain, or attend school out of state, the driving portion will be done with your county’s Driver’s Ed and there may be an additional fee.
