This course addresses teaching and learning in the digital age, integrating media and technology in the classroom, and the use of computers in the classroom. This course is geared towards the “Digital Content and Instruction” and the “Data and Assessment” sections of the NC Digital Learning Competencies for Classroom Teachers. The course is ongoing and self-paced. You may sign-up and take the course at any time during the year. Upon completion you will receive 10 contact hours. This course could also be used towards meeting lateral entry technology requirements.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: You will need to register for each module individually on this website. We encourage you to register for each of the modules that you want to complete while you are on the WRESA website. After registering for all modules that you wish to take on this site, follow the directions in the confirmation emails that you receive for each module. Once you are on our WRESAONLINE Moodle site, you will be able to complete all of your modules without having to return to the WRESA website to register for the next one.

Substitute 101
Date: Ongoing
Cost: $45.00
This course is designed for people who are interested in becoming substitute teachers in their respective school systems. There are four modules that will need to be completed and the student will be assessed at the end of each one with a multiple choice and true/false test. The student must score at least 80% correct to continue. Please check with the school district in which you wish to substitute to ensure it will accept the certificate for this course.
PLEASE NOTE: Click the “Register” link below to create an account in Moodle. Please enter your first and last name as you want it to appear on your certificate. Once you have created your account, you will receive a confirmation email which requires you to click the link to confirm your email address. Once your email address has been confirmed, click “Courses”, then click the course title “Substitute 101”, and you will be directed to PayPal to pay the registration fee. Once the course is paid for, you will have access to it.

Test Preparation Courses
Foundations of Reading: Test Preparation Course
Registration Fee: $75 Non-refundable

This online course will prepare pre-service and teachers new to NC for the Foundations of Reading test. Activities, strategies, background reading, vocabulary study, practice questions, and resources will be provided in each of the tested areas: foundations of reading development, development of reading comprehension, reading assessment and instruction, and integration of knowledge and understanding. General Curriculum Math Subtest: Test Preparation Course

Registration Fee: $75 Non-refundable
This online course will prepare pre-service and teachers new to NC for the General Curriculum Mathematics Subtest. Terms, strategies, videos, and practice test questions are provided for each of the tested areas: numbers and operations, functions and algebra, geometry and measurement, statistics and probability, and open response.
